There has been a lot of talk on Twitter about using Pachube to aggregate geiger counter readings across Japan in light of mounting concern about the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
We want to make this as quick and easy to set up and, since there are already geiger counters registered with Pachube, we will be upgrading the accounts of all users that send radiation data to Pachube if they make them public so that they have complete long term permanent storage of every datapoint ever sent, and extra datastreams. This will be a valuable resource for the community and for researchers around the world.
Map screenshot, March 22 2011 - we need more feeds!
For any member of the public that wants to make that realtime data available more widely via their website we will also be issuing public Secured Sharing Keys with greatly increased API requests and high performance web scale caching of the realtime radiation data so that anybody around the world can make use of the data to build web-based maps, to produce realtime analytics, to create mashups - or whatever they think is most useful. Please contact support @ pachube dot com with the domain URL where you will be hosting these applications - the key will be issued for your individual domain.
When creating feeds please make sure to use the feed machine tag: sensor:type=radiation
We also need more realtime weather station or wind data to monitor air flow patterns, so if you are in Japan, now is the time to get it online!
If you already have a Pachube account, in order to retrieve realtime radiation data from Japan, the URL for accessing all public feeds would be:
XML: http://api.pachube.com/v2/feeds.xml?tag=sensor%3Atype%3Dradiation&lat=37.5&lon=137.5&distance=1000&per_page=1000&order=created_at&key=YOURKEYGOESHERE
JSON: http://api.pachube.com/v2/feeds.xml?tag=sensor%3Atype%3Dradiation&lat=37.5&lon=137.5&distance=1000&per_page=1000&order=created_at&key=YOURKEYGOESHERE
CSV: http://api.pachube.com/v2/feeds.csv?tag=sensor%3Atype%3Dradiation&lat=37.5&lon=137.5&distance=1000&per_page=1000&order=created_at&key=YOURKEYGOESHERE

account passworg doesnt work for retrieving data
A username and password are being requested by http://api.pachube.com. The site says: "Web Password"
is the message I get as it kicks me out of teh CSV file format link..
What am I doing wrong?
Re: Calling all .jp users - distributed radiation sensing & ...
Are you using your Pachube.com account login credentials, or your forum login credentials? The forum login credentials won't give you access to the data, so if you aren't already a Pachube member, you can sign up here: http://www.pachube.com/signup and then you shouldn't have any trouble accessing the data. When you click on the CSV link it will ask you for your login and password.
never mind
I figured it out from your post. Thank you.
